An upcoming installment of HBO’s Game of Thrones was leaked, but hackers aren’t to blame. Season 7’s episode 6 was mistakenly posted (!) on HBO Nordic and HBO Espana platforms, and the brief period it was available was enough time for it to spread on piracy sites. “The error appears to have originated with a third party vendor….This is not connected to the recent cyber incident at HBO in the U.S.,” clarified an HBO Europe  spokesperson. That cyber attack, in July, led to the release of episodes of HBO series including Insecure and Ballers.

In another incident unrelated to the HBO attack, 4 people in India were arrested for the leak of episode 4 of Game of Thrones. All are current or former employees of Prime Focus Technologies, which processes the show for Star India. “It is important to note that this was not a system hack. It was an illegal breach of obligations by the concerned persons,” said PFT founder and CEO Ramki Sankaranarayanan.
