MTV launches a new docu-series this fall featuring the talent of documentary filmmaker Andrew Jenks in the World of Jenks, debuting September 13 at 10p. Each episode will follow Jenks as he hones in on a subject and tells that person’s life, everyone from a top-selling recording artist to a young homeless woman to a young adult with Autism. In all, Jenks will relate the stories of twelve diverse people. Jenks first film was HBO’s Room 335 followed by The Zen of Bobby V, where it premiered to critical acclaim at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.

Paula Patton (Precious) landed a role on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU as the new ADA. Patton’s character, Mikka Von appears on the series starting with episode five.

Rachelle Lefevre is joining ABC’s new series, Off the Map, the medical series from Shonda Rhimes, reports EW. Lefevre’s character, Eva is a free-spirited missionary doctor who had previously worked at the tropical clinic though left because of her troubled romance with the clinic’s founder, Ben (Martin Henderson).

A&E Network debuts a new seven-episode series Growing Up Twisted starring Dee Snider, the front man of the heavy metal group Twisted Sister on July 27 at 10p and also at 1030p. Growing Up Twisted goes inside Snider’s family life in suburban Long Island where he lives with his wife Suzette and their four children. Evolution Media produces the series for A&E.

Heidi Klum, current host of Lifetime’s Project Runway is producing a new reality series titled Seriously Funny Kids in partnership with LMNO Productions, the banner behind Bill Cosby’s Kids Say the Darndest Things, per Variety. WE tv and Essence magazine are partnering for a second year in a row to present exclusive offerings around WE tv’s on-air bridal programming at the annual Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this Friday through Sunday. Also this weekend, at the WE tv hospitality lounge, the network will host on-site casting calls sponsored by Cox Communications for its original series Bridezillas and My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. The Bridezillas casting call happens this Friday and Saturday from 1-4p while the My Fair Wedding casting call, with David Tutera in attendance to meet prospective show candidates, will be this Sunday from 1-4p. As the progressive voice of the two, Spitzer has been called the “Sheriff of Wall Street” and was a renowned prosecutor and former Governor of New York. Parker is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who describes herself as a “rational” conservative and her current opinion column appears twice weekly in more than 400 newspapers nationwide.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences met Tuesday and discussed the possibility of moving up the Oscars telecast to January instead of February. The 83^rd annual Academy Awards will stick with its scheduled air date of February 27, 2011 airing on ABC. If a January date is settled on it could happen as early as 2012. It has been suggested moving the Oscars telecast to January could help with the event’s television ratings. Since 2004, the Oscars has aired in February after many years being scheduled in late March/early April, though this year’s telecast aired on March 7 to avoid the Winter Olympics.

CNBC money and personal finance guru Suze Orman was taken to a Chicago hospital Sunday night where she had an emergency appendectomy. Orman, originally from Chicago, was visiting that city for her 59^th birthday when the appendicitis attack occurred and is now home in Florida recuperating. CNBC has not stated when she will return to her show.
