Based on its ratings success, VH1 is adding a half-hour post-show to its series Mob Wives beginning this Sunday. Titled Mob Wives: The Sit Down, the show will air at 9p directly following the one-hour reality series Mob Wives. The post-show is hosted by VH1’s Carrie Keagan and will feature two or three of the wives each week in addition to a celebrity guest to discuss the episode immediately after it airs. The post-show will also include some exclusive behind-the-scenes information. Actor James Farentino died on Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 73. Mr. Farentino had recurring roles on such television series as Dynasty, Melrose Place, The Bold Ones: The Lawyers and ER. In the latter series, he played the estranged father to George Clooney’s character. In 1978, Mr. Farentino was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role of Saint Peter in the TV miniseries, Jesus of Nazareth. Mr. Farentino also starred or appeared in numerous feature films and in 1967 won a “Most Promising Newcomer” Golden Globe Award for his performance in the comedy The Pad and How to Use It.

GMC, featuring uplifting music and family entertainment programming, is teaming with the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) on the second annual GMC Faith and Family Screenplay Competition. The competition promotes faith-friendly family entertainment screenplays with a focus on the American Black cultural experience. All eligible screenplays received will be sent to GMC for review by a panel that will choose three finalists. The recently-debuted primetime series, Oprah’s Next Chapter on OWN is expanding to two nights airing on Sundays and Mondays during February. After NBC aired the special airing of G4’s American Ninja Warrior finale last summer, NBC and G4 are continuing and expanding their partnership on the series for 2012. This summer, G4 will air the preliminary rounds and NBC is set to air the preliminary finals in addition to the grand finale. The new season of American Ninja Warrior marks the first time the competition is being held entirely in the US. A. Smith & Co. Ben Stiller is turning his attention to HBO where he will star, direct and executive produce a new comedy pilot called All Talk. Novelist Jonathan Safran Foer is behind the project which is described as “politically, religiously, culturally, intellectually and sexually irreverent” and is about the dramas of a Jewish family in Washington, D.C. Alan Alda is presently in negotiations to star in the series. Production on the pilot is tentatively slated for this fall. A double batch of royal romance series will premiere on TLC when Undercover Princes opens at January 31 at 10p followed a month later by Undercover Princesses on February 28 at 10p. The two series follow six royal heirs from countries including Germany, South Africa, Uganda and India as they look for love without revealing their regal heritage. Making it official, TV Land approved the new series Have Faith, the spin-off series of Hot in Cleveland starring Cedric The Entertainer and Niecy Nash. Suzanne Martin is writing Have Faith as well as executive producing. TV Land has ordered 12 episodes of the series featuring Cedric as an R&B star-turned-minister, a character that was introduced in Hot in Cleveland. TV Land will premiere Have Faith in June.

TLC will explore the lives of American gypsies through their extravagant wedding celebrations in its upcoming new series My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding. The network says more than 45 million viewers tuned in to watch the original UK series that aired on TLC in 2011. The series will reveal the hidden culture of the estimated one million gypsies and travellers that exist across the US. TLC has ordered eight one-hour episodes from Firecracker Films and on-location production has already taken place in several states including West Virginia, Georgia and Maryland. Making it official, The CW is picking up the original Canadian drama The L.A. Complex from Bell Media with six one-hour episodes. The drama is about six young performers pursuing careers in Hollywood while living in the same apartment-style motel for displaced dreamers. The CW will launch the US premiere of The L.A. The nation’s first over-the-air broadcast TV network for African-Americans, Bounce TV is launching its first big on-air promotion campaign this month under the umbrella TV Our Way. The campaign is designed to reinforce the network’s programming aim of African-American programming for an African-American audience and will highlight Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union and Regina Hall, the stars of the upcoming Screen Gems/Rainforest Films motion picture Think Like a Man. The trio of stars taped promotion segments for the campaign in addition to Bounce TV’s tribute to Black History Month in February. For the eighth consecutive year, Animal Planet presents its cute alternative to the Super Bowl when Puppy Bowl VIII returns on February 5 from 3p to 5p.
