“Resolve to Solve with Miles O’Brien,” a new five-part documentary series from PBS, will air its first two episodes on Aug. 26. The series follows O’Brien (the award-winning independent journalist, not the “Star Trek” character played by Colm Meaney) talking with scientists and problem-solvers about how they tackle the world’s biggest issues.

Fox shared a first look at Season 5 of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” produced by Minnow Films and executive produced by Becky Clarke, Liam Humphreys and Dave Sutton. The latest season of the celebrity social experiment will task a group of celebrities and TV personalities – including Candace Cameron Bure (“Full House”), Collin Gosselin (“Jon & Kate Plus 8”) and Brandi Glanville (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”) – with navigating the jungles of Malaysia to complete special challenges. The new season will premiere Sept. 24, with episodes available to stream the next day on Hulu.

The latest season of Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race” has reached 7.9 million P2+ viewers across platforms, with last week’s airing marking the series’ highest rating since 2018 among people ages 25 to 54, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.

Season 8 of “Black Mirror” has started production, according to Netflix. The streamer also renewed several other UK-based original series: “Legends,” the scripted drama featuring Steve Coogan and Tom Burke as undercover agents; “House of Guinness,” a show about the famous Irish brewer; “At Home with the Furies,” a docuseries about heavyweight boxing world champion Tyson Fury; and “Being Gordon Ramsay,” another docuseries about the celebrity chef.

In other British TV news, filming has also begun on “The Detection Club,” a 10-part drama from BritBox and writer Kit Lambert (“Father Brown”). The series follows a fictional mystery-solving society formed by real-life crime writers Agatha Christie (Bryony Hannah), Dorothy L. Sayers (Cara Theobold) and G.K. Chesterton (Miles Jupp).
