Disney eliminated several hundred positions Tuesday in the company’s third round of layoffs this year, following restructuring waves in January and April.
-The cuts spanned Disney Entertainment Television, ESPN, Pixar, and — hardest hit of all, per The Hollywood Reporter — Nat Geo.
-ESPN bore some of the most visible damage. Ryan Clark learned he was out while live on air for “NFL Live,” according to The Athletic, after ESPN rushed the news when word threatened to leak. Clark never came back from the commercial break.
-About 12 ABC News employees were impacted, according to Deadline.
-The cuts reflect ongoing reorganization, particularly at ESPN, where the recent NFL Network acquisition is reshaping staffing and talent needs across the network’s programming lineup.

Amazon MGM Studios is bringing “RoboCop” back — this time as a series. Nearly four decades after the 1987 sci-fi classic first had audiences rooting for a half-man, half-machine cop, the franchise is getting a small-screen revival on Prime Video.
–Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, called RoboCop “a sharp, provocative mirror of our relationship with technology and power” — and said the new series aims to honor that legacy while feeling fresh and urgent for modern audiences.
-Showrunner Peter Ocko is crafting the vision, with horror maestro James Wan and the Blumhouse Atomic Monster team bringing their cinematic flair to the project.
-In other words: expect satire, steel, and probably a whole lot of bullets.

HBO’s “Hard Knocks” is heading to Seattle. The training camp series returns Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 9 p.m.with the Seahawks as its subject. The wreckage of Pan Am’s long-lost airliner Clipper Endeavor was located with an assist from Discovery Channel’s “Expedition Unknown.”
-The show partnered with Air/Sea Heritage Foundation and Deep Sea Vision to locate the wreck, which crashed off Puerto Rico in 1952, killing 52 of 69 people aboard.
-Found at nearly 2,000 feet below the Atlantic on June 2, the Douglas DC-4 still bears its Pan Am logo.
-The crash — known in Puerto Rico as “La Tragedia del Viernes Santo” — led to today’s mandatory preflight safety briefing.
-The full story will air on “Expedition Unknown” later this year.
