Parents Television Council President Tim Winter sent an open letter to The Simpsons creator Matt Groening asking him not to air rape jokes during the comedy’s crossover episode with FOX‘s Family Guy, slated to air in the fall. Winter was prompted to contact Groening after content was widely disseminated on YouTube. “I respectfully and humbly urge you not to allow ‘Springfield’ to be a place where we are asked to laugh at humanity’s most heinous and disgusting crimes against children,” said Winter.
