FOX’s upcoming singing competition series The X Factor officially tapped British pop star Cheryl Cole as one of the judges, joining Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell.  Cole has served as judge on the UK edition of The X Factor for three years.  Cole, Reid, Cowell and a fourth judge to be announced will travel to audition cities searching for the next worldwide superstar or music group.  Auditions continue in Dallas on May 26. The X Factor is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America.

Longtime CEO of MTV Networks, Judy McGrath announced she is resigning her position.  The company said yesterday a replacement for her position would not be named though those executives reporting directly to Judy – Van Toffler, Doug Herzog and Cyma Zarghami – will now report directly to Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman.

Production began on the sophomore season of Food Network’s primetime series, The Great Food Truck Race featuring Chef Tyler Florence continuing as host.  During the second season, eight different food trucks from around the US will participate in a coast-to-coast culinary road trip visiting a new city each week to compete in various challenges.  The race will stop in Santa Monica, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, Manhattan, KS, Memphis, Atlanta and Miami.  The last food truck standing at the end of the season wins $100,000.  The Great Food Truck Race premieres August 14 at 10p following the Food Network Star finale and episodes will air on Sundays at 9p through September 25. The Great Food Truck Race is produced by RelativityREAL, LLC.

Actor/writer Bill Hader is the new host of Turner Classic Movies’ (TCM) franchise TCM Essentials Jr.  Throughout the summer on Sunday nights, Hader will present 13 films aiming at parents and kids starting June 5 with The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland.  Hader is best known as a regular on NBC’s Saturday Night Live for the last five years and is also a producer on Comedy Central’s South Park.
