The CW has picked up the first three seasons of crowdfunded historical drama “The Chosen.” The series, following the life of Jesus Christ, starts its CW run on Sunday, July 16 at 8p. “’The Chosen’ is based on the biggest IP of all time and is truly a one-of-a-kind series that tells this historically significant story in a captivating, dramatic and premium way,” said The CW President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz. “This show has already connected deeply with viewers around the world, and The CW will expand its audience even further.”

NBC Sports Chief Pete Bevacqua is departing NBCUniversal. Taking on a new role as the athletic director at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, Bevacqua is the latest high-level executive to leave the media giant following former CEO Jeff Shell’s exit. Eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo and actor Will Arnett are teaming up to host alternate telecasts of Formula 1 races with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions. In collaboration with ESPN, the production company will produce three telecasts of “The Grandstand with Daniel Ricciardo and Will Arnett,” hosted by the driver-actor duo. The new series is slated to debut with the Pirelli Canadian Grand Prix on June 18 on ESPN2, with the traditional telecast airing on ABC.
