SYFY: Ghost Hunters International (Premiere) at 9pm

NBC is placing Community back on its schedule starting March 15 and also released the premiere dates of three other new series: Bent starring Amanda Peet will debut March 21 at 9p from Universal Television and Rosalita Productions; Betty White’s Off Their Rockers after its sneak preview last month will officially open April 4 at 8p; and new female buddy sitcom Best Friends Forever, headlined by Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham from Universal Television and American Work will also launch on April 4 at 830p. With the return of Community, NBC is retooling its Thursday night lineup beginning March 15 with Community, 30 Rock, The Office and Up All Night. Parks and Recreation will be off for a six-week hiatus after its March 8 episode airs, coming back April 19 at 930p following Up All Night’s 24-episode first season run. In other NBC scheduling news, Rock Center with Brian Williams will move to 10p on Wednesdays beginning March 7 for five weeks and then return to the 9p slot on April 11. Law & Order: SVU also is back with new episodes at 10p starting April 11 until its season finale on May 23.

Comcast is partnering with GMC TV and entrepreneur/NBA Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson to launch a new African American network called Aspire. The network will showcase a combination of original and acquired programming including movies, documentaries, short films, music, comedy, visual and performing arts as well as faith/inspirational programs. Johnson will serve as Chairman of Aspire and he was awarded one of four, new and minority-owned and operated independent networks from Comcast. ASPIRE will go live this June and will be based in Atlanta. Comcast’s agreements for the other three networks include the previously-announced Revolt from Sean “Diddy” Combs and MTV veteran Andy Schuon; El Rey Network, serving the US-born Latino market from Robert Rodriguez, FactoryMade Ventures CEO John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa; and BabyFirst Americas from Constantino Schwarz.

New original Lifetime drama series, The Client List, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt will premiere April 8 at 10p. Cybill Shepherd, Loretta Devine and Colin Egglesfield also star in the series that is based on the 2010 Lifetime original movie of the same name. The network ordered ten episodes of The Client List produced by Fedora Films and Jaffe/Braunstein in association with Sony Pictures Television.

For its upcoming second season this fall, FOX has overhauled The X Factor, purging three out of five of its on-air talent. Judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger are now off the show as well as host Steve Jones. These moves come after weeks of speculation on whether or not Scherzinger and Jones will continue on the show and Abdul’s future with the show has also been talked about. Simon Cowell and record producer L.A. Reid will both continue as judges. In the UK, The X Factor pulls in high ratings and in its first season on FOX delivered an estimated 12.6 million viewers and a 4.4 rating among A18-49 for its Wednesday episodes.

Soon after its premiere launch, HBO has renewed its horseracing drama Luck for a second season with ten episodes. Production on the new season will resume at the end of February for a January 2013 premiere. For its opening episode, Luck drew 3.3 million total viewers across all airings. Starting today, Bounce TV rolls out its first-ever Black History Month programming tribute called Our History with several documentaries covering topics such as slavery, the Civil Rights movement and the rise of Hip Hop. The documentaries will air each Wednesday night in February. The recently-debuted primetime series, Oprah’s Next Chapter on OWN is expanding to two nights airing on Sundays and Mondays during February. In the series, Oprah Winfrey has in-depth conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, leaders and real-life families. The second part of her interviews will air on Mondays beginning January 30 at 10p. The upcoming schedule includes Oprah interviewing Sean Penn in Haiti on January 29 at 9p followed by Hope in Haiti on January 30 at 10p.

FOX Television Stations and Warner Bros. are teaming to premiere a six-week preview of the new talk show Bethenny hosted by author/entrepreneur and reality star, Bethenny Frankel. The preview will kick off this summer and the daily one-hour talk show will air on select FOX-owned stations in markets including New York and Los Angeles. After NBC aired the special airing of G4’s American Ninja Warrior finale last summer, NBC and G4 are continuing and expanding their partnership on the series for 2012. This summer, G4 will air the preliminary rounds and NBC is set to air the preliminary finals in addition to the grand finale. The new season of American Ninja Warrior marks the first time the competition is being held entirely in the US. A. Smith & Co. Ben Stiller is turning his attention to HBO where he will star, direct and executive produce a new comedy pilot called All Talk. Novelist Jonathan Safran Foer is behind the project which is described as “politically, religiously, culturally, intellectually and sexually irreverent” and is about the dramas of a Jewish family in Washington, D.C. Alan Alda is presently in negotiations to star in the series. Production on the pilot is tentatively slated for this fall. Stiller and Foer in addition to Scott Rudin and Eli Bush will all serve as EPs.

Reality competition series The Glee Project was picked up for a second season by Oxygen and there are plans to expand the show when the series returns this summer. The show will follow fourteen contestants, instead of twelve, who will compete to win a seven-episode arc on FOX’s musical-comedy Glee. Ryan Murphy and Dante Di Loreto will continue as executive producers along with Michael Davies and Shauna Minoprio of Embassy Row. Making it official, The CW is picking up the original Canadian drama The L.A. Complex from Bell Media with six one-hour episodes. The drama is about six young performers pursuing careers in Hollywood while living in the same apartment-style motel for displaced dreamers. The CW will launch the US premiere of The L.A. Complex this spring while the series debuted in Canada via CTV and MuchMusic on Tuesday.

A new original eight-episode series will premiere next month on Netflix as Lilyhammer starring Steven Van Zandt opens on February 6. Van Zandt, best known for his role on HBO’s The Sopranos plays a New York mobster who is relocated to rural Norway. Van Zandt will also serve as one of the series’ executive producers.
