Dancing with the Stars premieres its 14th season March 19 at 8p on ABC.

FOX has re-tooled its spring schedule by now premiering the new Kiefer Sutherland drama Touch on March 22 at 9p following the American Idol results show at 8p. An encore of the Touch preview episode will air March 15 at 9p. Starting April 2, Bones will move to a new night and time at 8p followed by House at 9p with all-new episodes. A retrospective special of House looking back at the series’ eight seasons is scheduled for May 21 at 8p and the series finale will follow at 9p. FOX’s 25th Anniversary Special, celebrating the shows and stars of the network’s 25-year history, will air April 22 at 8p over two hours. Additionally, The Finder will air its spring finale on March 8 at 9p and will be back later in the season with all-new episodes. A two-hour season finale of Alcatraz will air March 26 at 8p.

Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s True Blood is stepping down in his role as the series’ daily showrunner. According to a statement released by HBO yesterday, Ball intended to take a more supervisory role on True Blood if HBO extended the series to a sixth season. Ball is still busy as his crime drama Banshee received a series order of 10 episodes from Cinemax. In addition, Ball has the one-hour medical drama Wichita in development at HBO.

In other HBO news, Michael Mann, the EP/director of the network’s series Luck will continue working with the network for a limited docu-series titled Witness chronicling war photographers. For the first time the role of Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick Dr. Watson will be portrayed by a woman. Lucy Liu landed the role on CBS’ pilot Elementary playing opposite Jonny Lee Miller as the famous detective Holmes in a modern-day take set in New York City. Liu is currently appearing on TNT’s Southland. CBS TV Studios is producing Elementary.

Former Charlie’s Angels co-star Rachael Taylor landed a co-starring role on ABC’s drama pilot 666 Park Avenue. Taylor will play Jane married to Henry (Dave Annabele), the couple who is hired to manage an historic apartment building in New York City filled with supernatural occurrences. Lost’s Terry O’Quinn will play the owner of the building. Warner Bros. Television is producing.

Academy Award-winner Cuba Gooding Jr. was tapped for the lead role in FOX’s Greg Berlanti legal drama pilot Guilty. The drama is about William “Billy” Remz (Gooding), an ethnically questionable defense attorney who has been stripped of his license to practice law after being falsely convicted of fraud. Remz uses his untraditional ways to solve cases he’s been banned from handling. If this pilot is ordered to series, this project marks Gooding’s first foray into regular series television. Gooding joins previously-announced Eva Amurri Martino who will play Lily, another attorney who works closely with Billy.

NBC is placing Community back on its schedule starting March 15 and also released the premiere dates of three other new series: Bent starring Amanda Peet will debut March 21 at 9p from Universal Television and Rosalita Productions; Betty White’s Off Their Rockers after its sneak preview last month will officially open April 4 at 8p; and new female buddy sitcom Best Friends Forever, headlined by Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham from Universal Television and American Work will also launch on April 4 at 830p. With the return of Community, NBC is retooling its Thursday night lineup beginning March 15 with Community, 30 Rock, The Office and Up All Night. Parks and Recreation will be off for a six-week hiatus after its March 8 episode airs, coming back April 19 at 930p following Up All Night’s 24-episode first season run. In other NBC scheduling news, Rock Center with Brian Williams will move to 10p on Wednesdays beginning March 7 for five weeks and then return to the 9p slot on April 11. Law & Order: SVU also is back with new episodes at 10p starting April 11 until its season finale on May 23.

Comcast is partnering with GMC TV and entrepreneur/NBA Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson to launch a new African American network called Aspire. The network will showcase a combination of original and acquired programming including movies, documentaries, short films, music, comedy, visual and performing arts as well as faith/inspirational programs. Johnson will serve as Chairman of Aspire and he was awarded one of four, new and minority-owned and operated independent networks from Comcast. ASPIRE will go live this June and will be based in Atlanta. Comcast’s agreements for the other three networks include the previously-announced Revolt from Sean “Diddy” Combs and MTV veteran Andy Schuon; El Rey Network, serving the US-born Latino market from Robert Rodriguez, FactoryMade Ventures CEO John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa; and BabyFirst Americas from Constantino Schwarz.

New original Lifetime drama series, The Client List, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt will premiere April 8 at 10p. Making it official, The CW is picking up the original Canadian drama The L.A. Complex from Bell Media with six one-hour episodes. The drama is about six young performers pursuing careers in Hollywood while living in the same apartment-style motel for displaced dreamers. The CW will launch the US premiere of The L.A. Complex this spring while the series debuted in Canada via CTV and MuchMusic on Tuesday.

A new original eight-episode series will premiere next month on Netflix as Lilyhammer starring Steven Van Zandt opens on February 6. Van Zandt, best known for his role on HBO’s The Sopranos plays a New York mobster who is relocated to rural Norway. Van Zandt will also serve as one of the series’ executive producers.
