Lifetime debuts new docu-series Double Divas in January that goes inside the world of intimate apparel found at Atlanta’s boutique LiviRae Lingerie.  The network will premiere Double Divas with two back-to-back episodes beginning January 10 at 10p following Project Runway All Stars.  Lifetime’s viewers will also be able to watch a sneak peek of Double Divas on New Year’s Day at 1030p.  The series follows LiviRae’s owners and best friends Molly Hopkins, dubbed the “bra whisperer” and Cynthia Richards, considered the “Thomas Edison” of custom lingerie.   Double Divas is produced by NorthSouth Productions and A+E Networks will handle global sales.

TV Land renewed first season comedy The Soul Man starring Cedric the Entertainer for a second season.  Cedric tweeted the news Tuesday to his followers.  The Soul Man, a spinoff series created by Hot in Cleveland showrunner Suzanne Martin, stars Cedric as an R&B superstar-turned-preacher who retires to St. Louis to become the preacher at his father’s church.

HGTV is adding a third series to its future lineup highlighting hosts and twin brothers, Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott.  The duo will next star in the one-hour home renovation competition series, Brother vs. Brother that pits Jonathan, a licensed contractor and Drew, a real estate agent against each other as they each mentor a six-person team of home improvement experts battling for a grand prize of $50,000.  The series is currently in production and is slated to premiere in August 2013.  The Scott brothers also host Property Brothers and Buying & Selling for HGTV.

Grace Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep landed a role on HBO’s drama Newsroom during season two.  Gummer, whose sister Mamie Gummer stars in The CW’s Emily Owens, M.D., will play Hallie Shea, a reporter who is embedded with the Mitt Romney campaign.

Mila Kunis is set to executive produce a period drama for The CW titled Meridian Hills.  The drama is set in 1972 and explores the women’s liberation movement.  Sydney Sidner will write the drama and will also be an EP along with Chris Keyser, Kunis and the Tannenbaum Co.’s Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.  Lisa Sterbakov (Robot Chicken) will also be an EP in addition to Kunis’ Black Swan managers Cami Curtis and Susan Curtis.  Meridian Hills is set in a Midwest country club during a time with the Equal Rights Amendment was just beginning.  The plot centers on a young, newly married woman who joins the Junior League and discovers an eclectic group of other young women who become allies in her quest to change the system.

Production has commenced in Los Angeles this week on ABC Family’s drama series pilot The Fosters starring Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Jake T. Austin, Hayden Byerly, David Lambert, Danny Nucci and Cierra Ramirez and newcomer Maia Mitchell.  The Fosters is a one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family consisting of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms.  The series is produced by Nuyorican Productions, Inc. and Prodco, Inc.

Also on ABC Family, three more have been cast for its multi-camera comedy, Phys EdSamm Levine (Freaks and Geeks), Sunkrish Bala (Shameless) and Chelsea Harris (guest star on Grey’s Anatomy) have joined the pilot from David H. Steinberg.  Phys Ed was picked up to pilot in September and is about Ed (Ryan Sypek) a high school jock who returns to teach at his former alma mater only to find that even though he has changed, nothing at the school has changed.  Levine will play Matt Nealy, a nerdy chemistry teacher; Bala will play Alan Rapaport, an English teacher who likes being the alpha male at the school; and Harris will play Wendy Kleinman, the attractive history teacher and cheerleading coach.  The series is being produced by Prodco.

Ryder Smith and will premiere as a special presentation in three parts on American Experience January 8-22 at 9p on PBS (check local listings).

Beginning next Monday, RLTV premieres A Taste of History, a series that examines America’s culinary roots.  Hosted by Chef Walter Staib, the series revisits our country’s founding and its founders through the foods they ate and the recipes they used.  Chef Staib is a master at open-hearth cookery and demonstrates for viewers how to prepare 18th century dishes and also visits historic locations from Jefferson’s Monticello to Rittenhouse in Philadelphia and Colonial Williamsburg.  Starting Monday, RLTV will air back-to-back episodes of A Taste of History weekdays at 1p and 130p.  Then beginning November 7, additional episodes will also air on Wednesdays at 8p and 830p, repeating at 11p and 1130p.

Style Media approves a fifth season of docu-soap, Jerseylicious.  The next season will premiere during first quarter 2013 with 14 all-new episodes produced by Endemol USA.  The fourth season of Jerseylicious was Style’s number one show among W18-49, averaging 508,000 total viewers in premiere episodes.

The Weather Channel continued to deliver high viewership as Hurricane Sandy raged on Monday.  The network’s average audience on Monday was 2.035 million total viewers, making it TWC’s third highest 3a-3a Total Day average in the network history with total viewers and HH.  Also on Monday, TWC delivered 800,000 A25-54 viewers Total Day, which is the highest rated day of the year for this target demo. 

Last Friday’s season premiere of Gold Rush on Discovery Channel at 9p posted a 2.43 rating among A25-54; a 3.27 with M25-54; and 4.45 million total viewers.  The series debut of Jungle Gold at 10p delivered a 1.5 with A25-54; 2.0 with M25-54; and 2.76 million total viewers, making it the network’s highest-rated series premiere this year in key demos and the fifth highest series premiere overall for the network.  New episodes of Gold Rush and Jungle Gold continue on November 2 beginning at 9p.

FOX Television Stations (FTS) and Debmar-Mercury forged a deal which brings the Charlie Sheen-starring comedy series, Anger Management to FOX Television Stations for an off-net syndication launch in September 2014.  Produced by Lionsgate Television, Anger Management will air on the following FOX-owned duopolies: WNYW-WWOR/New York, KTTV-KCOP/Los Angeles, WFLD-WPWR/Chicago, KDFW-KDFI/Dallas, WTTG-WDCA/Washington DC, KRIV-KTXH/Houston, KSAZ-KUTP/Phoenix, KMSP-WFTC/Minneapolis and WOFL-WRBW/Orlando.  FX will continue to hold exclusive cable rights to reruns of Anger Management beginning in fall 2014.

ABC added two more episodes to its business-themed reality competition series Shark Tank for the 2012-13 season.  The order total for Shark Tank is now at 24 episodes for its fourth season produced by Sony Pictures Television. Currently airing Fridays at 8p, Shark Tank will air at its new 9p Friday slot starting November 2, making room for ABC’s new comedy block of Last Man Standing and Malibu Country.

Tonight, HGTV debuts new series Home Strange Home and the network will continue production on the series for a second season with eight all-new one-hour episodes. HGTV also renewed You Live in What? and Extreme Homes for a second and third seasons respectively with eight one-hour episodes each. Home Strange Home, hosted by comedian Chuck Nice, tours eccentric and bizarre residences from a modern-day Peter Pan’s Neverland to a home made out of animal bones. Rock star Bret Michaels was tapped to host the new original series Rock My RV with Bret Michaels on Travel Channel. The network forged a talent deal with Michaels to host the eight-episode half-hour series that has been approved for production beginning next month. In the series, Michaels will lead a team of skilled, custom RV designers and fabricators who transform ordinary RVs into over-the-top mobile mansions. Rock My RV will premiere in 2013 and is produced by BCII Productions for Travel Channel.

The Mummy star Brendan Fraser was cast to star in TNT’s drama pilot Legends from executive producer Howard Gordon (Homeland). Legends is about a deep-cover operative named Martin Odum who has an extraordinary ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. Gordon, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Alexander Cary and Jonathan Levin developed the project based on the book by Robert Littell. David Semel will direct the pilot and be an executive producer along with Fraser who plays Martin in the pilot. Fox 21 is producing.

NBC has decided to air the one-hour pilot episode Mockingbird Lane, the updated version of the 1960s sitcom The Munsters as a Halloween special on October 26 at 8p. The project from Bryan Fuller and director Bryan Singer has been in development for about two years though NBC opted to not pick up the pilot to series last spring. Portia de Rossi stars as Lily Munster with Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn.

ABC News’ What Would You Do? series will begin airing encores on HLN October 21. HLN announced its exclusive cable television rights to the docu-series yesterday. Back-to-back episodes will air on Thursday and Sunday nights from 9p to 11p. Furthermore, HLN is expanding its current relationship with Dr. Drew Pinsky with Dr. Drew On Call, a one-hour program airing Mondays through Wednesday at 9p starting October 22.

Yesterday, MTV revealed plans to expand and streamline its hip hop music and lifestyle programming and content across its multiple channels and screens under the brand name MTV Jams. This move extends the MTV Jams brand from a 24-hour digital channel to now integrating into all of MTV’s properties including MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com. The initiative also includes the launch of Jams.MTV.com, a new digital destination for all of MTV’s hip hop content, a new weekly series on MTV2 called The Week in Jams premiering October 28 at 11a as well as a fresh team of contributors joining MTV News’ hip hop expert, Sway Calloway. The new contributors include DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Sofi Green, Maestro and Nessa. Electus and 5×5 Media are launching a seven-city US casting call for TNT’s upcoming competition series The Hero hosted and executive produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. African American network Bounce TV kicks off its 2012-2013 college football coverage this Saturday with the Elizabeth City State versus Virginia State game live from Rogers Stadium in Ettrick, VA at 1p. Bounce TV offers college football coverage of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Bounce TV also made a sports rights renewal deal with Urban Sports Entertainment Group to televise both CIAA football and basketball games. Bounce TV will air the CIAA Championship football game and select quarter- and semi-final CIAA tournament basketball games as part of the agreement. Furthermore, Bounce TV is set to premiere its new original series Off The Chain on October 22 at 9p hosted by Rodney Perry.
