The union representing writers for free streaming service CBS News 24/7 reached a tentative agreement with Paramount and CBS. The writers, represented by the Writers Guild of America East, staged a 24-hour walk out after their contract expired on March 9. The union has declined to release details of the new three-year pact until after a scheduled ratification vote on the deal, which is scheduled within the next few days.

HBO is scheduling a special fan screening of the Season 3 premiere of “Euphoria” during the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 12. The event, following the festival’s final musical performance, makes “Euphoria” the first television series to screen its premiere episode on the Coachella campgrounds and is open on a first-come, first-served basis, with a festival wristband required for access.

Netflix has a limited series “The Corrections,” based on the best-selling novel by Jonathan Franzen and starring Meryl Streep, on deck. Cord Jefferson (“American Fiction,” “Watchmen”) will direct the series, which has been in development since 2024. “The Corrections” was originally set up for CBS Studios but moved to Paramount Television Studios after the Skydance-Paramount merger last year.

Paramount+ has greenlit “Team Moms,” a new unscripted series executive produced by Kim Kardashian that will premiere later this year. “Team Moms” invites viewers into the world of nationally competitive youth baseball via Legendary Prep Academy, Scottsdale, Arizona’s first and only baseball prep school.

“Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” the continuation of Disney Channel’s2007-2012 comedy “Wizards of Waverly Place,” will return for a final season this summer on Disney+ and Disney Channel with a four-part event that goes into production next week. Executive producer Selena Gomez will make her directorial debut with the premiere episode and will reprise her role as Alex Russo in multiple episodes.

“Dexter: Resurrection” has cast Brian Cox (“Succession”) as the New York Ripper for Season 2. The character, a no longer active serial killer that terrorized the city years ago, was first introduced in Season 1 but was not seen onscreen. The Ripper was an integral part of the Season 1 cliffhanger and is expected to be a big part of Season 2.

Comedian Louis C.K. is returning to Netflix this summer with a new special, “Ridiculous,” and is headlining at the Hollywood Bowl on May 5 as part of the Netflix is a Joke Fest. The special is the first to be released by a major distributor since 2017, when the comedian was involved in a sexual misconduct scandal. C.K. has been touring the country regularly and released his last four specials independently.

ABC’s “9-1-1: Nashville” and “9-1-1” scored season high Live+Same Day viewership on March 26, while also notching gains over three days of multiplatform viewing on ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms. Up against March Madness on CBS and MLB opening night on NBC, freshman drama “9-1-1: Nashville” rose to 6.23 million Total Viewers at 9p, besting its initial Live+Same Day series high (+55%; vs. 4.02 million) through three days of multiplatform viewing. On linear over three days, “9-1-1: Nashville” delivered 5.34 million Total Viewers. At 8p, “9-1-1” scored 7.33 million Total Viewers, rising over its initial Live+Same Day season high (+53%; vs. 4.80 million). On linear over three days, “9-1-1” earned 5.94 million Total Viewers, nearly matching its previous season high in January (6.10 million on 1/29/26).

ABC continued to see ratings growth on March 23 with the Season 9 premiere of “American Idol” earning 4.86 million Total Viewers and a 0.42 rating among Adults 18-49 on the network and Disney +. With the Top 20 hopefuls performing inspiring songs of faith, “American Idol” grew by double digits over the show’s audience on the same night last year (+11%; vs. 4.36 million on 3/31/25) and also increased over last season’s first Monday live show (+6%; vs. 4.57 million on 4/21/25).
