Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has quietly launched an AI start-up, Project Prometheus, and installed himself as its co-chief executive along with Vik Bajaj, a co-founder of research lab Verify and Foresite Labs. The company has secured $6.2 billion in funding, partly from Bezos, and hired nearly 100 employees.

UK-based Particle6 has been commissioned to make an AI-led series for Hearst Networks. “Straten van Toen” (Streets of the Past), a 10-episode, short-form history series, commissioned for The HISTORY Channel in the Netherlands, has Dutch historical investigator and reality star Corjan Mol (“The Curse of Oak Island”) transported back in time, with the help of AI, to tell stories associated with some of the Netherland’s most famous streets, squares and canal sides.

Hallmark Media announced the next class of creatives chosen to participate in Make Her Mark, its women’s directing mentorship program. Angie Nolan, Hannah Michielsen, Huriyyah Muhammad, and Sarah Wilson Thacker were elected to begin the mentorship phase of the program and shadow a director on set of a Hallmark movie. BBC World Service is launching BBC Global Women, a commitment to highlighting women’s storytelling. Alongside new commissions, the initiative will elevate the editorial offer for women by starting conversations, building connections and challenging misinformation. Two weeks after Jake Paul’s fight against Gervonta Davis was canceled comes word that the former YouTuber will face off against Britain’s world champion Anthony Joshua. “Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day” is set for December 19 in Miami, to air live on Netflix. “To all my haters, this is what you wanted,” said Paul. “To the people of the United Kingdom, I am sorry. On Friday, December 19, under the lights in Miami, live globally only on Netflix, the torch gets passed and Britain’s Goliath gets put to sleep.” It’s Paul’s second live event on the streamer.

Chelsea Handler will host the annual Critics Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive year.
