Amazon Web Services suffered a major outage on Monday, impacting Amazon, Venmo, Facebook, Google, and some airlines and banks, among many others. While Amazon reported seeing signs of recovery early in the morning, connectivity issues persisted. According to AWS, the problem stemmed from a Domain Name System (DNS) issue that prevented applications from locating the DynamoDB API, a cloud database used by multiple services.

OpenAI has added new protections around Sora 2, following fears raised by SAG-AFTRA, CAA and UTA over threats to actors’ voices and likenesses. “I was deeply concerned not just for myself, but for all performers whose work and identity can be misused in this way,” said actor Bryan Cranston. “I am grateful to OpenAI for its policy and for improving its guardrails, and hope that they and all of the companies involved in this work, respect our personal and professional right to manage replication of our voice and likeness.”

The monthly churn rates for Disney+ and Hulu reportedly doubled in September amid calls for boycotts over ABC parent Disney’s decision to suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, as well as price increases. According to Antenna, Disney+’s cancellation rate rose from 4% to 8%, and Hulu’s from 5% to 10%. Antenna also estimates Disney+ and Hulu gained 2.18 million and 2.11 million new subscribers, respectively, last month.
