Netflix has partnered with Burger King, Domino’s, Google, Xbox and more for the return of mega hit “Squid Game” for season two. “Our goal is to build partnerships that bring even more member joy in fun, surprising, and delightful ways,” said Magno Herran, Vice President of Brand and Partner Marketing. “We offer the ability to become a part of the story alongside our incredibly engaged fandoms, and now, with the addition of our ad-supported plan, expansion with experiences and live events, and fast-growing consumer product offerings, brands can engage with Netflix in so many ways, all in one place.” One example: Duolingo is diving into the menacing world of Squid Game with its mascot, Duo the owl. Dressed as a Pink Guard, Duo is featured throughout the campaign asking fans to “Learn Korean or Else.”

Chris Cuomo has reached a multi-year agreement with NewsNation to continue hosting his 8p weeknight show, “Cuomo.” “Chris is a one-of-a-kind talent whose unrivaled analysis and commentary has helped grow the audience at NewsNation and strengthen our brand,” said Sean Compton, President of Nexstar’s Networks Division. Commented Cuomo, “Of course I am staying. Where else but NewsNation can you expose the game instead of being forced to play? Let’s get after it!” Cuomo joined NewsNation in 2022, the year after he was ousted from CNN for counseling his brother, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, during a sexual harassment scandal.

Kristen Bell (“Nobody Wants This”) will host the Screen Actors Guild Awards, set to stream live Sunday, February 23 on Netflix. It’s not Bell’s first time at this rodeo – she also hosted in 2018. “Thrilled to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year,” said Bell. “I’m honored to be asked back and can’t wait to share the evening with my fellow actors, doing what we do best … celebrating ourselves.”

TikTok has made an emergency application to the Supreme Court, asking for a temporary injunction to halt the implementation of a law, passed by Congress last year, that requires Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell its US operations by January 19 or face being banned. TikTok argues the law “will shutter one of America’s most popular speech platforms the day before a presidential inauguration. This, in turn, will silence the speech of Applicants and the many Americans who use the platform to communicate about politics, commerce, arts, and other matters of public concern.”

“The Kelly Clarkson Show” has been renewed for season seven. “There’s an appetite in talk for stories that entertain and inspire, and ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ is a shining star that delivers for our stations and connects with viewers across multiple generations in meaningful ways,” said Tracie Wilson, EVP, Syndication Studios and E! News at NBCU. The talker is averaging 2.1 million viewers per day.

Apple TV+ has renewed “Silo” through a fourth and final season. “The addictive, inventive and moving ‘Silo’ has had us hooked since day one and we’ve loved watching global audiences become equally enamored with the world that Graham Yost has created,” said Matt Cherniss, Head of Programming for Apple TV+. “We can’t wait for everyone to experience more of the show’s powerful performances led by the incomparable Rebecca Ferguson, as well as the unexpected twists, turns and surprises that we’ve come to expect from this very human story.” Season two of the drama premiered last month.

The series is scheduled to premiere in late 2025.
