Sony Pictures Television has filed a lawsuit alleging breach of contract against CBS. Sony claims the network earned distribution fees from unauthorized deals for “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy?”, licensed the shows at prices below market rates and favored its own shows over “Wheel” and “Jeopardy!” when making distribution deals and selling advertising, reports The Wall Street Journal. “CBS has gutted the teams responsible for fulfilling its contractual obligations, requiring us to step in at our own expense,” said Sony in a statement about the court filing. Sony also said it is seeking damages and will try to end its agreement with CBS and find new distribution and advertising partners for the game shows.
