Andrea Mitchell will give up her daily noontime show on MSNBC following the presidential inauguration in 2025, she told viewers Tuesday. Mitchell will retain her roles as NBC News’ chief Washington correspondent and chief foreign affairs correspondent and will assume a broader role within NBCU’s news operations, reporting for both NBC News and MSNBC. She has anchored a weekday program on the network since 2008. “After sixteen years of being in the anchor chair every day, I want time to do more of what I love the most: more connecting, listening and reporting in the field, especially as whoever is elected next week is going to undertake the monumental task of handling two foreign wars and the political divisions here at home,” she said on her MSNBC show “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”

CBS has signed the final cast members for “Beyond the Gates,” including veteran television and stage actor Clifton Davis starring as Vernon Dupree, the Dupree family patriarch and husband of Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie). Also joining the new daytime series are Alex Alegria, Lauren Bugliogli, Ben Gavin, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob and Mike Manning. From the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, “Beyond the Gates” begins production in November and will premiere on CBS in early 2025.

For the second straight year, ESPN, Disney, the “Simpsons” and the National Football League will premiere “The Simpsons Funday Football,” an animated “Monday Night Football” game transformed in real-time into the “Simpsons” world using Sony’s Beyond Sports Technology. Atoms Stadium in Springfield will host the December 9 contest between the Cincinnati Bengals at the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” game that evening. “The Simpsons Funday Football” will stream on Disney+ and ESPN+, and, on mobile, with NFL+. The traditional “Monday Night Football” telecast will be available on ESPN, ABC and ESPN Deportes with “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” on ESPN2. Both the traditional telecast and Peyton and Eli will also be on ESPN+. All telecasts will begin at 8p.

While the New York Yankees try to avoid a sweep in Game 4 of the World Series tonight (October 28), Blue Triton Brands has launched an out-of-home ad campaign in New York City, naming its Poland Spring “The Official Water of Rally Caps,” while in a similar campaign its Arrowhead brand will be touted as “the Official Water of the National Anthem” in Los Angeles. Poland Spring, the official water of the New York Yankees, will place OOH billboards/digital screens in major high traffic areas throughout New York including Times Square, Penn Plaza and throughout the subway system. In Los Angeles, the Arrowhead billboards will be seen in The Tower, Kurve, Vermont Spectacular and 3rd Street Crossing.

Nearly 6 million viewers watched Ohio State narrowly beat Nebraska on Fox’s “Big Noon Saturday” college football broadcast. The game peaked at 9.456 million viewers between 3:15p and 3:30p on Fox, making it the most watched college football game on any network that weekend. Viewership was up 66% year-over-year over “Big Noon Saturday’s” week 9 matchup in 2023 (vs. 3.6 million). Fox’s airing of the Rutgers – USC game scored more than 2 million viewers, up 69% over average late-night telecasts on the network this season (vs. 1.189 million).

Several CBS series have posted double-digit multiplatform audiences and season-over-season streaming growth for the premieres of their freshman and sophomore seasons, based on VideoAmp and internal data, led by “Matlock,” whose series premiere has been seen by 15.8 million multiplatform viewers in its first 30 days. The season premiere of “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” amassed 10.6 million multiplatform viewers, while the season two premiere of “Tracker” delivered 15.7 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days, up +25% from its time period premiere last season on Feb. 18. “Elsbeth’s” season two premiere was seen by nearly 10 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days, up +19% from its debut last season on Feb. 29.

Film and TV actress Teri Garr died Tuesday after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.She was 79. While Garr was best known for her roles in comedies like “Young Frankenstein” and “Tootsie,” she was a regular guest on sitcoms and TV shows throughout the 70s and 80s.
