US ad spend in 2024 will grow 7.2% year-over-year, forecasts ad industry guru Brian Wieser, an upward revision thanks to a second-quarter expansion of 9.6%. Wieser, who launched Madison and Wall in 2023, has raised his 2024 estimate 2.9 points over the past year. Throw political ad spend in the mix, and the US ad economy will hit 10.5%, he writes.

AMC Networks and Charter Communications have reached a multi-year agreement that allows the cable company to continue carriage of AMC’s portfolio of linear cable networks, as well as offer the programmer’s streaming app – AMC+ — within its cable bundle at no additional cost to Charter’s Spectrum TV Select customers. Additionally, Charter will make AMC+ available for purchase to its millions of Internet-only customers.

A deal with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution gives Sinclair’s free broadcast network TBD previous seasons of “Saturday Night Live” this fall. TBD will feature classic episodes from seasons 4-37 and various “Best of” specials from each decade of SNL’s run, starting Monday, September 30 with a special all-day marathon. SNL then moves into its regular time period on October 1.

Nicholas Denton (“Dangerous Liaisons,” “Glitch”) has been cast as the lead in AMC’s “Anne Rice’s The Talamasca,” the third series in an expanding Anne Rice Immortal Universe. The series is slated for a 2025 premiere, with production beginning next month in Manchester, England. The six-episode season will focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.
