The lawsuit filed by the estate of Michael Crichton, calling upcoming Max medical drama “The Pitt” a copy of Crichton’s “ER,” is “baseless,” says Warner Bros. Television. “’The Pitt’ is a new and original show,” the studio said in a statement. “Any suggestion otherwise is false, and Warner Bros. Television intends to vigorously defend against these meritless claims.” The lawsuit alleges that the studio ended negotiations with the Crichton Estate for an “ER” sequel, then proceeded with the series, moving the setting from Chicago to Pittsburgh.

Comedian Nikki Glaser, whose profile rose with a memorable set on Netflix’s Tom Brady roast, will host the “82nd Annual Golden Globes,” set for Sunday, January 5 on CBS. “This is truly a dream job,” said Glaser. “Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty for every TV show and movie I’ve binged over the past year. Adam Verdugo is exiting “CBS News with Norah O’Donnell.” His last day will be September 6. “This was not an easy decision to make, but as we know in this business, there is never a ‘right’ time,” wrote Verdugo in a note to staff. Snapchat launched its first native app for the iPad, thirteen years after launching on the iPhone. “Snapchat now offers native support for iPad,” states the App Store release. “This means that Snapchat will fill an iPad’s full screen, providing you with a larger canvas when capturing Snaps and allowing you to see more friends on the 2nd and 4th tabs.”

Eight-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick heads to ESPN this NFL season through separate agreements with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions and “The Pat McAfee Show.” Belichick will join “The Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN and ESPN+ and YouTube each Monday; be a featured guest for all 11 “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” alternate telecasts (ESPN2 and ESPN+); and launch “The Breakdown with Peyton and Belichick” on Friday, September 6 on ESPN+.

Tennis fans will find the US Open on ESPN through 2037. The network signed a 12-year extension with the US Tennis Association that includes expanded streaming coverage. ABC will continue to air matches during the final Sunday of the two-week tournament, along with “Middle Sunday” matches.
