MTV has shifted its VMA Music Awards ceremony from Tuesday, September 10 to Wednesday, September 11, to avoid competing with the planned presidential debate on ABC. MTV encouraged fans to tune in to watch VP Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump spar, and announced the first round of performers for the VMAs, including Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Rauw Alejandro.

Four months after the launch of Dr. Phil McGraw’s Merit Street Media,the company cut about 30% of its employees, impacting approximately 40 jobs. “Following the brief summer hiatus of ‘Dr. Phil Primetime,’ Merit Street implemented ongoing consolidations of departments and roles in efforts to achieve efficiencies at the highest level, which unfortunately resulted in some layoffs,” said a Merit Street spokesperson. “We are confidently getting better at what we do. Merit will continue striving to create more synergy between all divisions including staff expanding their roles within our live news, original programming, and sports and music endeavors.”

Tagging along with Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago will be “The Daily Show Presents: InDogCision 2024,” in partnership with voter registration organization HeadCount and no kill animal welfare organization PAWS Chicago.
