Google violated antitrust laws by maintaining a monopoly on online search and general text adverting, ruled a federal judge. The Justice Department and states had sued Google, accusing it of illegally paying billions of dollars to be the automatic search engine on smartphones and web browsers. “Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly,” said Judge Amit P. Mehta in his ruling.

NewsNet, the 24-hour news channel available on broadcast networks and streaming services, has shut down after two years. “We believed people would want to watch a clean, non-bias news network, but we were wrong,” said Manoj Bhargava, owner of parent company Bridge Media, in a statement. “Without a large audience, we just couldn’t continue to lose money. We hired the best people and talent, and we appreciate their hard work and effort. But we just couldn’t continue.”

JB Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) is developing a comedic animated series based on the video game “High on Life” via his Alternate Side Productions, with Squanch Games and Striker Entertainment. “’High on Life’ is wild, weird, and wonderful, and the series is going to be that and more!” said Smoove, who is in the game’s voice cast. “Get ready to laugh your way through space with some unforgettable characters like myself!”

Lionsgate Television is shopping a TV series sequel to the “John Wick” films. “John Wick: Under the High Table” will “combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age,” reads the series logline. ABC’s upcoming reimagining of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” has two new designers to assist the building team: Wendell Holland, the season 36 winner of “Survivor” and a designer who has appeared on HGTV series, and Arianne Bellizaire, the owner of a Baton Rouge design firm. The series, which originally ran on ABC from 2004 to 2012, is set to return in 2025.

MSNBC has acquired documentary “From Russie with Lev,” focused on Ukrainian operative Lev Parnas, from Rachel Maddow’s Surprise Inside.
