A week after reports surfaced that a deal was imminent, Paramount Global chair Shari Redstone still hasn’t signed off on a deal that would sell her media conglomerate to Skydance Media in a transaction estimated to be worth $8 billion. Redstone is reportedly balking at the deal as counter offers from other media companies have come in. The Hollywood Reporter speculated that talk that Warner Bros. Discovery would be interested in Paramount’s CBS network and stations has prompted Redstone to consider selling assets piecemeal, while The Wall Street Journal reported that former media executive Edgar Bronfman Jr., was teaming with private equity on a $2.5 billion bid for Redstone-controlled National Amusements, Paramount’s largest shareholder.

General Motors is on track toward reaching its goal of having 8% of its advertising placed with Black-owned media by 2025. Citing executives attending the Black Owned Media Equity and Sustainability Institute’s Black Owned Media Weekend in Detroit, Media Post said GM s made “significant changes” in 2021 to the way it partners with diverse media, including launching a diverse incubator fund with $50 million over 10 years “to support and scale diverse marketing companies.” General Motors was one of the sponsors of the weekend as were Danone, Discover and media companies Nativo, My Code and She Media.

Spectrum News NY1 said Shannan Ferry will take over “News All Day,”NY1’s weekday afternoon newscast airing from 12p – 4p. Ferry previously co-anchored the weekend morning program “Weekends on 1” alongside Rocco Vertuccio and has filled in behind the anchor desk throughout the daytime, including many appearances on the weekday morning broadcast “Mornings on 1.” With Ferry’s move to weekdays, Vertuccio will now be the sole anchor of “Weekends on 1.” The news comes as Ferry celebrates 10 years with the News 1 team this year.

Soho Studios and Two Rivers Media will produce documentary series“Travels with Agatha with Sir David Suchet.” Channel 4 in the UK, BritBox in North America and the Nordics and SBS in Australia have acquired the series through deals brokered by Abacus Media Rights who are also handling distribution for rest of world. In the 1920s, author Agatha Christie traveled on an expedition to five areas – Canada, Hawaii, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia – which the series will feature separately in each episode. Sachet played “Poirot” for 13 seasons on ITV. Filming will begin in the summer 2024, with delivery at the end of the year.

E! has greenlit “Denise Richards and the Wild Things,” a half-hour comedic docuseries starring and executive produced by Richards. The series will premiere in 2025. Richards has been featured on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and with her family starred in a reality show for E! more than 15 years ago. “My family and I are thrilled to return home to E! Sami and Lola were just 3 and 4 years old when we first shared our story and now we’ve come full circle,” Richards said. “Denise Richards and the Wild Things” is executive produced by Alex Baskin, Joe Kingsley and Jeff Festa for 32 Flavors, Denise Richards for Smoke and Mirrors Entertainment, and Adam Griffin.

NBCUniversal Local’s NBC-owned stations and NBC Sports Regional Networks will present a new season of the multiplatform podcast “My New Favorite Olympian” profiling Team USA athletes leading up to Paris 2024. The seven-part audio and video series, which begins June 12, is led by 12-time Olympic medalist swimmer Natalie Coughlin and Zena Keita, an NBC Sports Bay Area reporter, host and analyst.
