Sony Pictures Television has finalized a licensing agreement with Paramount Global linear cable networks for nine seasons of the “The King of Queens,” which will include streaming rights on Paramount+ and Pluto TV for the first time. “Paramount recognized the importance of consolidated cross-platform negotiations years ago to deliver entertainment to audiences anywhere and everywhere they consume content,” said Barbara Zaneri, Chief Program Acquisitions Officer, Paramount Global. “We look forward to continuing to execute industry-leading deals that give fans more ways to watch what they love across our multiplatform ecosystem of cable and streaming products.”

CBS News has shut down its Tokyo bureau; Liz Palmer, who had been based in Tokyo, will remain with CBS News in a different location. But CBS hasn’t abandoned Tokyo coverage. “CBS News will continue to have a team in Asia, including an on-air correspondent,” said a network rep. “We also have a partnership with the BBC which provides us with additional resources in the region.”

As Disney celebrates its resounding victory in its proxy war, a former ABC director of development is taking the network, Disney and director John Ridley, whose production company has a deal with Disney, to court. Asta Jonasson, an Asian American woman, claims she was fired in 2022 in retaliation for filing a complaint about unequal pay due to her gender and race. Jonasson is seeking a jury trial, and unspecified damages. “The allegations against Mr. Ridley are false, and the allegation that Mr. Ridley is biased against Asian-Americans is preposterous,” responded attorney Jennifer Redmond. “We look forward to proving as much in court.”

The album launch also generated a 38% jump in global daily music in the entire Country music genre within the same time period.
