Google will destroy browsing data it collected from users in incognito mode to settle a $5 billion class action lawsuit, according to federal court filings. Google is also required to revise its disclosure about incognito mode. The 2020 privacy lawsuit accused Google of secretly amassing data from users when they thought their browsing was private. Google argued the case should be dismissed on the grounds that users “expressly consented” to data collection by accepting Google’s privacy policy and other terms of service, a position the court denied in August. Court papers about the agreement were filed in December, but not revealed until now.

Earth Month has a champion in The Walt Disney Company and National Geographic, who are offering a new global cross-platform campaign, ourHOME, that spotlights creators, storytellers and cast members for their contributions to the planet. Among the offerings is a new digital series spotlighting three Disney Planet Possible stories, with Nat Geo talent visiting Walt Disney World Resort to see the work firsthand. “Disney is committed to putting possibility into practice and inspiring optimism for a brighter, cleaner and more environmentally sustainable future,” said Yalmaz Siddiqui, VP, Environmental Sustainability, The Walt Disney Company. “We hope the ourHOME campaign with Nat Geo helps bring greater awareness of the beauty and majesty of our planet to audiences everywhere.”
