Netflix signed a multi-year partnership with Indian filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Mehta’s crime drama “Scoop,” which was a success for the streamer when released earlier this month, was the first season of a new franchise under the deal. Mehta and Netflix will develop multiple series over the next few years. Mehta said, “As a filmmaker, the idea of creating diverse and dynamic stories constantly keeps me on my toes.”

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino of “Jersey Shore” is the new host of a true-crime series. “Statute of Limitations,” co-produced by FilmRise and Grinning Dog Entertainment, is a 10-episode limited series that focuses on ordinary people who have committed nonviolent crimes. “This one-of-a-kind series features crimes openly discussed by people who ‘got away with it’. Coupled together with series host Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino’s unique style of humor, [it] brings a light heartedness to a normally dark genre,” said FilmRise SVP of Acquisitions and Co-productions Max Einhorn.

“Native America” season two premieres October 24 on PBS. The series returns with four new Native-directed episodes that present a portrait of contemporary Native America. The sophomore season follows engineers, politicians and artists who have drawn upon Native tradition in their work.

Ryan Reynolds inked a deal with Welsh public service network S4C for his channel on Fubo. Now featuring a “Welsh Wednesdays” block in the US, comprising six hours of Welsh-language content per week, Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Channel will air a slate of series for a global audience. Llinos Griffin-Williams, S4C content officer, said, “Ryan Reynolds is our adopted Welshman and his respect, understanding and commitment to Wrexham and Wales is unquestionable.”
