Guy Pearce (“L.A. Confidential”) is making a return visit to Australian soap “Neighbors,” cancelled in 2022 after 37 years and now revived by Amazon Freevee and Prime Video. Pearce starred on the show from 1986-89, then appeared in what was to have been the show’s finale. On Channel Nine podcast “Weekend Talks,” Pearce said he’s in the process of working out a “respectful” way to extricate his character from the show that was his first big break in the business.

Play.Works, a provider of CTV games, has partnered with Authentic Hendrix and Experience Hendrix to launch slots and video trivia games inspired by the lyrics and music of Jimi Hendrix. The CTV slots game is available on Roku and will soon be rolled out to other partners. Later this year comes a Jimi Hendrix trivia game. “It’s a step towards the future,” said Experience Hendrix President and CEO Janie Hendrix.

Global esports organization and gaming collective Gen.G and McDonald’s are expanding their esports partnership in key local markets with the launch of another year of the McDonald’s Gaming League. McDonald’s owners/operators and Gen.G will use their esports league to engage employees and gaming enthusiasts to elevate the McDonald’s employee experience. This will be the third year for McDonald’s Southern California, Southern Plains (Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas) and DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia), while Pacific Northwest enters its second year. “McDonald’s employees are definitely no stranger to gaming,” said Patricia Chambers, Director of Media & Partnerships at Davis Elen. “A positive employee experience is of course a priority for McDonalds and offering competitive gaming is a great way to promote that.”

Discovery Channel’s new spin-off “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing” garnered a 0.94 rating among P25-54 on its Sunday, May 14 telecast, a 52% from the 8p-10p timeslot’s the prior six-week average.
