Ed Berger (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) is set to direct “Helltown,”a series in development at Amazon Studios. The crime drama is based on Helltown: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer on Cape Cod, by Casey Sherman, about the hunt for a murderer that drew in then-struggling author Kurt Vonnegut. The project comes from Team Downey, Mad Gene and Amazon Studios.

Lauren Mensch has moved to “CNN This Morning” as executive producer and showrunner for the 6-9a time period, and Chris Russell will EP during the dayside and evening hours, focused on content for the following morning. Mensch joins from “CNN Newsroom,” while Russell was exec producer of NewsNation’s “On Balance with Leland Vittert.”

The Washington Post Opinions section will distribute the short film, “How to Rig An Election: The Racist History of the 1876 Presidential Contest,” narrated by Tom Hanks, written/produced by Jeffery Robinson, founder of the Who We Are Project and former ACLU deputy legal director, and directed by Emily Kunstler and Sarah Kunstler. The season one finale of HBO’s “The Last of Us” hit a ratings high on Sunday night, delivering 8.2 million viewers across HBO Max and linear telecasts, based on Nielsen and first party data. The series is now averaging 30.4 million viewers across its first six episodes, with the first episode approaching 40 million viewers in the US. Outside of the US, the post-apocalyptic drama is now the most-watched show in the history of HBO Max in both Europe and Latin America.

ID’s “Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster” led ID to rank as the #1 cable network (excluding sports) among P25-54 and W25-54 on Monday, March 6 in the 9p-12a time slot. The docuseries was ID’s highest rated limited series telecast in over two years, attracting 3.7 million viewers on Monday night,and averaging a .83 Live+3 rating among P25-54 and 1.02 among W25-54.
