“Uncoupled,” canceled by Netflix after one season, will have a sophomore run at Showtime. The comedy from Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman stars Neil Patrick Harris as a gay man navigating life in New York City after the breakup of a long-term relationship. Meanwhile, “Ripley,” a limited series based on Patricia Highsmith’s Tom Ripley novels that had been given a series order at Showtime, is moving to Netflix. The show is currently in postproduction.

HBO has torpedoed Armando Iannucci’s “Avenue 5.” The futuristic sci-fi comedy starring Hugh Laurie, Josh Gad and Zach Woods as passengers on an off-course space cruise ship premiered in January 2020 and was renewed for a second season the following month. “Going to space with Armando Iannucci has been an incredible journey,” said an HBO spokesperson. “While we will not be moving forward with a third season of ‘Avenue 5,’ we look forward to many more adventures together.”

Ryan Fellows’ family sued the TV network and studios behind “Street Outlaws: Fastest in America.” Fellows suffered a fatal crash while racing another driver, during which he lost control near the finish line in August 2022. The wrongful death lawsuit claims the race did not meet “any of the industry safety standards” on a “dusty, weather-beaten, rough asphalt roadway” in a desert outside Las Vegas. Warner Bros. Discovery and Lions Gate Entertainment are among the media corporations named. Said a WBD spokesperson said in a statement, “We continue to extend our deepest sympathy to Ryan’s loved ones and the entire ‘Street Outlaws’ family. We cannot comment on the pending litigation.”

Season four of “You” will not feature intimacy scenes. On Penn Badgley’s podcast “Podcrushed,” the Netflix series star said that he asked the show’s creator, Sera Gamble, abstain from sex scenes on the show. He told to his podcast co-host Nava Kavelin, “One of the main things was, do I want to put myself back on a career path where I’m always playing the romantic lead?” Citing fidelity to his real-life marriage, Badgley added, “It’s got to the point where I don’t want to do that.”

HBO Max former Unscripted Chiefs Jennifer O’Connell and Rebecca Quinn will produce nonfiction content under their newly-formed production company Velvet Hammer Media. The duo behind “Selena + Chef” and “The Way Down” departed Warner Bros. Discovery after unscripted productions were removed from its streaming service, and will serve as CEOs and executive producers of VHM.

A scripted drama about the LAPD Mental Evaluation Unit is coming to BET+. Created by Devon Shepard and Lina Patel, the project will center on the aftermath of an officer fatally shooting a mentally ill man. The LAPD’s MEU is a real-life program that assists patrol officers with calls dealing with mental health.

NBCUniversal has partnered with the Obama Foundation to air “I Am My Brother’s Keeper.” The Comcast-produced half-hour special focuses on the Creative Exchange Program between participants in the MBK Alliance program in the US and students of Ravensbourne University in the UK. The documentary will be available on all NBC-owned and affiliate stations, and will run from February 15 through February 28.

Stand-up special “Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!” premieres today on Fox Nation. Nearly five years after her ABC show was canceled for her anti-Semitic and racist tweets – which then-ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey described as “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values,” Barr’s comedy special will premiere on the same day as “Who Is Roseanne Barr” – comes Fox Nation’s documentary of her career. In an appearance on Friday’s episode of Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Barr promised to be “more offensive than [she has] ever been.”
