Also in line for the hot seat are former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, CNN host S.E. Cupp, former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, and former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, among others. New mom McCain left the show in August after four seasons, unwilling to leave her home in Washington, D.C. for the NY-based show. The CW has ordered “Tom Swift” to series. The “Nancy Drew” spinoff follows a Black, gay, billionaire inventor played by Tian Richards (“Burden”), who abandons his lavish lifestyle when he is embroiled in a world of sci-fi conspiracy. “Nancy Drew” showrunner Melinda Hsu Taylor and co-creator Noga Landau created the new series with Cameron Johnson (“Empire”). “Nancy Drew” executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will also executive produce the spinoff, alongside Lis Rowinski of their Fake Empire banner. CBS Television is producing.

MeTV is celebrating the late Ed Asner with Lou Grant-focused episodes on Sunday September 5 from 2p-3:30p, as well as an episode of “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour” featuring Asner at 1a. Warner Bros. Television Group has signed a new overall deal with “Hacks” co-creators Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, and their production company, Paulilu Productions, after a competitive situation. WBTVG will now serve as Paulilu’s exclusive home for all new television ventures in a deal that calls for Aniello and Downs to develop original television programming for all platforms, including WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, external streaming services, cable, and the broadcast networks.

CBS’ “Survivor” is back for season 41 on Wednesday, September 22 – with some twists. Production has been shortened from 39 days to 26 days, and host Jeff Probst will break the fourth wall to address the audience. “I cannot remember a time when I’ve been this excited to launch a new season of Survivor,” said Probst , who is also an executive producer on the reality competition. “Survivor 41 features a really likable group of savvy Survivor players and they are in for the most intense, most difficult and most dangerous season we’ve ever done.”
