The fun and games will continue at NBC. The net renewed Ellen’s Game of Games for a fourth season, news the talk show host revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Shows on Tuesday. “I’m so excited. I love this show so much,” said DeGeneres. “It makes me so happy. I love games. It combines all my favorite things: prizes and surprises.” Last season’s run of the alternative series reached a total of over 66 million viewers and was primetime’s #1 game show.

Stephen Colbert is heading to CBS sib Pop TV, according to Deadline. The cable net will carry exclusive next-day encores of CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert starting Tuesday, February 25, with the previous night’s episode of The Late Show airing on Pop at 9a.

SNL star Kenan Thompson will host and Hasan Minhaj will repeat his 2017 gig as featured entertainer at The White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner. Last year, dinner was served without a comedian, after a controversial appearance by Michelle Wolf in 2018; instead, historian Ron Chernow was featured. The D.C. event, being held on Saturday, April 25, will be handled by Bob Bain Productions, producer of the Critics’ Choice Awards, the Creative Emmys and the Teen Choice Awards.

A+E Networks announced that Matthew McConaughey has joined the lineup of HISTORYTalks, a traveling speaker series of live events exploring newsworthy topics and historical milestones through conversations with global leaders, trailblazers, historians, authors and filmmakers. The inaugural event, “Leadership & Legacy,” will include a session with President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush in conversation with presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, on Saturday, February 29 at NYC’s Carnegie Hall. In “A Conversation with Matthew McConaughey,” the actor will speak about the personal choices people make that impact their legacies.

Showtime is developing and has ordered multiple scripts of horror-comedy The Auteur, starring Jude Law. Directed by Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, The Mandalorian), who will also write with Peter Warren (Ghost Team), half-hour series is based on the graphic novel by Rick Spears, James Callahan and Luigi Anderson that focuses on a film producer desperate to make a great horror movie after a massive bomb, who accidentally traps his production on a backlot with a serial killer.

Netflix greenlit Painkiller, a limited series about the opioid crisis from Eric Newman, who has an overall deal with the streamer. Newman has been examining the drug trade in Colombia and Mexico as showrunner of Narcos and Narcos: Mexico. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, The Leftovers) will direct all episodes of the series, which is being written by A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood scribes Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.
