Retailers spent over $400 million on TV advertising in 2019 ahead of Black Friday , according to MediaRadar, a five percent increase versus the same period last year. Extra thanks goes to top ten spenders Amazon, Walmart, Target, Macy’s, Kay Jewelers, JCPenny, Best Buy, TJX Companies (TJ Max and Marshall’s), and Raymor & Flanagan. “Our deep dive discovered that spending for 2019’s Black Friday TV advertising has been highly concentrated,” said Todd Krizelman, CEO and CoFounder of MediaRadar. “Of the nearly 300 retail companies that ran ads on national TV in the first half of November, 77 percent of those dollars came from the top 20 spenders.”

With Disney+ averaging about a million downloads daily – racking up an estimated 15.5 million in less than two weeks after its launch, reported Apptopia – and Disney generating $5 million through in-app purchases, Disney stock hit a new high of $153.22 on Tuesday (closing at $151.64). Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas” franchise has made the net the highest-rated and most-watched cable network during Total Day and Primetime among Households, W25-54, and total viewers, excluding news and sports. Saturday’s Christmas at Graceland: Home for the Holidays averaged a 2.6 HH rating and 2.7 million total viewers, while Sunday’s Cherished Memories: A Gift to Remember 2 drew a 2.5 HH rating and 2.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
