Drew Barrymore will star in her own syndicated daytime talk show for CBS Television Distribution, anchored by the CBS Television Stations group. “We are very excited to be in business with Drew Barrymore and have our stations serve as the launch group for a show that is the brightest prospect I have seen in many years,” said Peter Dunn, President, CBS Television Stations. “We look forward to giving Drew and our colleagues at CBS Television Distribution our full support to help this show strike gold with our audience and advertisers.” The show, slated to launch in fall 2020, will be produced and distributed by CTD; Barrymore, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell are executive producers.

There was no one else who could play it,” said Billy Ray, who adapted the book and is directing. “In my first phone call with her, I spent 10 minutes just telling her how much I loved her in Broadcast News.” CBS has not announced the when (air dates) or where (Showtime? HBO is adding mental health awareness notifications ahead of some of its shows and movies, to identify mental illnesses that appear in the episode and provide information on how to get help. “HBO has always been at the forefront of telling stories featuring complex characters, some of whom deal with mental illness, from The Sopranos to Euphoria, encouraging more conversation around the different facets of mental health,” said Jason Mulderig, VP of Brand & Product Marketing at HBO. “We are not saying ‘viewer discretion is advised.’ We are saying ‘viewer conversation is encouraged.’” The disclaimers are part of HBO’s “It’s OK” initiative, aimed at destigmatizing mental.

The wrongful death case against AMC brought by the family of late The Walking Dead stuntman John Bernecker will go forward to trial, ruled a Georgia judge. Bernacker suffered fatal injuries in a stunt fall in 2017. “This was a tragic accident,” said AMC after the ruling. “While we continue to believe our motions for summary judgment were appropriate and supported by the facts in this case and the law, we respect the Court’s decision – without making any determination on the merits of either side’s arguments – to allow the case to proceed.”

The season four premiere of NBC’s This Is Us was the number one scripted episode of broadcast premiere week, growing 82% in Live+7 to hit a 3.35 rating among A18-49, according to Nielsen. In all of entertainment, Fox’s Masked Singer topped the chart, with a 3.6 rating in the demo. In total viewers, CBS’s NCIS was first, with 16.9 million viewers, while the crown for biggest percentage of growth went to ABC freshman Stumptown, up 141% in delayed viewing.
