ON TELEVISION (THURSDAY 7/25/19)
NETFLIX: Another Life (Premiere)

HBO will up the number of hours of original programming by about 10% in 2020, said HBO head of programming Casey Bloys at TCA. But it’s still about quality, not quantity. With the addition of Monday night programming, “The big challenge for me and our team is to ensure that we weren’t just filling hours to fill hours,” said Bloys. “We have a lot more programming but there’s not one show that I wouldn’t have aired one year or five years ago.”  Bloys also addressed the backlash received by the finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones. “There are very few downsides to having an immensely popular show, but one that I can think of is when you try to end it,” he said of the series, which wrapped on May 19. In any case, Bloys added, “Thirty-two Emmy nominations is nice validation.”
