Seth Meyers will make judicious use of the lead-in from the first Democratic presidential debates on NBC by going live with his Late Night program each of the two nights. NBC News announced that the moderators for the two-night event would be Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow and José Diaz-Balart.

Attorneys General from nine states and the District of Columbia filed a lawsuit on Tuesday to prevent the proposed $26 billion deal between Sprint and T-Mobile. The merger of the third- and fourth-largest wireless carriers “would not only cause irreparable harm to mobile subscribers nationwide by cutting access to affordable, reliable wireless service for millions of Americans, but would particularly affect lower-income and minority communities here in New York and in urban areas across the country,” said Letitia James of New York. The transaction has not yet received the approval of the Justice Department, but last month Ajit Pai, chairman of the FCC, indicated he was in favor of it.

Amazon is the world’s most valuable brand, according to the 2019 BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands rankings. In order, the other brands in the Top 10 are: Apple, Google, Microsoft, Visa, Facebook, Alibaba, Tencent, McDonalds and AT&T. Amazon moved up from the No. 3 spot in 2018 with a brand value of $316.5B, a 52% change. Apple held fast at No. 2, while Google slipped from the No. 1 slot in 2018.

Jim McMullan, who starred in both film (Shenandoah, Downhill Racer) and TV series (Chopper One, Beyond Westworld), died of complications from ALS at his home in Wofford Heights, California on May 31. Many fans will know him as Texas Sen. Andrew Dowling on Dallas. He was 82.
