The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences voted not to change the rule that requires a movie to run in a theater for only in seven days in LA to be eligible for an Oscar. Movie producers called foul after Netflix’s Roma won three Oscars after a limited theatrical run, prompting the review. “Our rules currently require theatrical exhibition, and also allow for a broad selection of films to be submitted for Oscars consideration,” said Academy president John Bailey. “We plan to further study the profound changes occurring in our industry and continue discussions with our members about these issues.”

AT&T sold its WarnerMedia office space in NYC’s Hudson Yards for $2.2 billion to an affiliate of Related Companies, in a deal that includes a long-term lease for the site. WarnerMedia properties are in the process of relocating from Time Warner Center to the new space. AT&T will use proceeds from the transaction to reduce its debt load, which reached $170 billion after its purchase of Time Warner last year.

With criminal charges against Jussie Smollett for allegedly faking a hate crime against him dropped, Empire cast members including Taraji P.
