Good news, bad news for Schitt’s Creek. The series has been renewed for a sixth season by Pop in the U.S. and CBC in Canada, to air in 2020; however, it will be the show’s last go-round. The comedy’s co-creators Daniel Levy and Eugene Levy announced the news on social media. The final chapter is in pre-production and begins shooting in a few weeks.

Game Show Network heads into the 2019 Upfronts having greenlit two new strip series, Best Ever Trivia Show and a reboot of Catch 21. Common Knowledge, hosted by Joey Fatone, which launched in January 2019 to become the network’s most-watched show among Total Viewers, has been renewed. Caroline & Friends, hosted by Caroline Rhea, was also greenlit for a second season. Other returning series include America Says, hosted by John Michael Higgins, and Game Show Network Daily Draw, hosted by Trish Suhr.

Nielsen reached a long-term agreement for national and local TV ratings measurement with Univision Communications Inc. With the new pact, all Univision properties, including Univision Network, UniMas Network, Univision Deportes, Galavision Network, El Rey and 36 Univision and UniMas Local TV stations across 19 local markets and Puerto Rico, will have continued access to Nielsen’s measurement and analytics services. Also, for the first time, Univision will join as subscribers to Nielsen SVOD Content Ratings, Local Nielsen Media Impact and Nielsen National Out-of-Home Reporting Service.

Noticias Telemundo and The Poynter Institute’s fact checking news organization, PolitiFact, are partnering to fact check news for Spanish-speaking Americans ahead of the 2020 election. The two organizations will also collaborate to translate PolitiFact fact-checks into Spanish for use online and on TV, including Noticias Telemundo and the broader NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “Hispanic issues are at the center of the political conversation, which is becoming increasingly polarized,” said Luis Fernandez, EVP, Noticias Telemundo. “Offering PolitiFact’s unique form of accountability journalism to our audience helps strengthen political discourse by centering on the facts and adding context for the decisions people make every day.”

Sam Strike (Nightflyers) has been cast as the lead, Roland Deschain, in Amazon’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower book series.
