Daytimer Jerry O, hosted by Jerry O’Connell (Carter), will have a three-week summer run on select FOX-owned stations beginning August 12. The entertainment talk/comedy show from Debmar-Mercury and Funny Or Die will feature specially produced Funny or Die comedy segments. “I love daytime. I love watching it and have fallen in love with guest-hosting it,” said O’Connell. “I am thrilled to work with my friends at both Debmar-Mercury and Funny Or Die. I have been collaborating with both companies for years and am so excited to bring a little bit of the traditional – and something brand new – to the audience.” Said Frank Cicha, EVP of Programming for FOX Television Stations, “I’m always willing to give a fellow NY Jets fan a shot.”

NBC renewed The Blacklist for season seven – and with the show’s leads set to return, it looks like Red’s death sentence might not be so fatal after all, botched prison escape notwithstanding. The drama is averaging 0.6 among A18-49 and 4 million total viewers in this season’s new Friday timeslot, but jumps to a 1.2 in the demo and 7.3 million viewers in Live+7 numbers. The show also ranks as the season’s most upscale drama on the Big 4 nets among A18-49.

DIY Network picked up season three of Holmes & Holmes, starring professional contractor Mike Holmes and his son, home renovation expert Mike Jr. Season two ratings were 136 percent higher than the net’s overall prime average and grew nearly 30 percent over its freshman run. The new 12-episode season is slated to air in late summer 2019.

Showtime ordered eight-part limited series Good Lord Bird, from Blumhouse Television, based on the novel by James McBride. Ethan Hawke will star as 19th-century abolitionist John Brown and is co-writing and executive producing with Mark Richard (The Ice at the Bottom of the World). Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will get big bucks to move to California. The sequel(ish) is set to receive $24.7 million in tax credits to relocate from Dublin.  “Shooting in California obviously has many attractions, but without the state’s Film and TV tax credit it could become cost prohibitive,” said Showtime co-President of Entertainment Jana Winograde. “We couldn’t be happier about how things worked out or the benefits it will bring to the job market.”

Robot-fighting series BattleBots got the go-ahead for a second season on Discovery and Science Channel. Sophomore run is slated to start this summer. BattleBots premiered on Comedy Central in 2000, was revived on ABC in 2015, and picked up by Discovery and Science for more metal-munching mayhem 2018.
