All rise, a spinoff of The Walking Dead is in the works at AMC. During parent AMC Networks’ quarterly earnings call yesterday, COO Ed Carroll said a third incarnation of the zombie apocalypse behemoth is in “active development.” Noting, “We have hired creative people that have pitched story outlines. We feel very good about the development of that series,” Carroll didn’t provide any specifics, including whether the new series would be included in AMC’s existing distribution agreement with Hulu. Side note: AMC Nets’ Q4 earnings beat Wall Street estimates, with adjusted earnings per share of $1.92 and revenue of $773 million.

Richard Plepler announced yesterday he is stepping down as head of HBO. “Richard’s impact to our business and on the passionate viewers of HBO’s enduring programming will continue to be felt for years,” said WarnerMedia CEO John StankeyTurner Broadcasting head David Levy is also reportedly headed out. Former NBC chairman  Bob Greenblatt is talking with AT&T about a role overseeing WarnerMedia’s potentially combined TV units, including HBO,Turner and its upcoming streaming platform, reports the Wall Street Journal.  AT&T was granted final clearance for its acquisition of Time Warner two days ago.

In its latest family-focused reboot, Netflix is bringing back The Baby-Sitters Club. Based on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling books, the adventures will return as a 10-ep live-action series that follows the friendship and babysitting adventures of five best friends. The Chronicles of Narnia producer Walden Media and Escape at Dannemora producer Michael De Luca are producing. Glow’s Rachel Shukert is showrunner.

Netflix and Sugar23 scored feature rights to Erica Katz‘s upcoming book The Boys’ Club and will develop a film based on the tome, to be published by Harper in summer 2020.
