20th Century Fox is standing behind Empire’s Jussie Smollett, denying reports that Smollett’s scenes are being cut as the investigation into the alleged attack on the actor moves forward. “Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set and as we have previously stated, he is not being written out of the show,” said the Empire producer. Later, the Chicago police named Smollett a “suspect” in the incident for “filing a false police report.”

The jury for the upcoming Series Mania Festival includes jury president Marti Noxon (Sharp Objects), Juliana Margulies (The Good Wife), and France’s Audrey Fleurot, Delphine De Vigan and Thomas Lilti. “In the face of political and social instability, the trend now is for series that replay history or demonize the future,” said Laurence Herszberg, Managing Director, and Frederic Lavigne, Creative Director. “Our teams have selected 70 series for the event from over 450 screened and – let’s not pretend otherwise – their visions of the world are not exactly joyful!”. Viacom International Media Networks Americas inaugurated its new global HQ in Downtown Miami, which will serve as the base of operations for the company’s portfolio of entertainment brands.
