Richard D. Parsons, named interim chairman of CBS after the departure of Les Moonves, is stepping down for health reasons. In a statement, Parsons, who has a rare form of blood cancer that had gone into remission after a stem cell transplant, said, “Unfortunately, unanticipated complications have created new challenges, and my doctors have advised that cutting back on my current commitments is essential to my overall recovery.” Parsons has been replaced by Strauss Zelnick, head of video game publisher Take-Two Interactive and a former president of 20th Century Fox. Zelnick was appointed to the CBS board last month.

Wheel of Fortune is thinking big – for the first time, the CBS game show will make it possible for a viewer to win a home. Wheel is teaming with Mingo Communities and Margaritaville Holdings to give away a new, $350,000 home at active adult community Latitude Margaritaville in the “Home Sweet Home Giveaway,” running October 29-November 2.

Donna Gigliotti (Shakespeare in Love) will produce the 91st Oscars, and director Glenn Weiss will co-produce as well as direct the show for the fourth consecutive time. Said ABC president Channing Dungey of Weiss, who proposed to his girlfriend onstage at the Emmys, “We can’t wait to see how they top that at the Oscars.” Trophy day is Sunday, February 24 on ABC.

Teens spend over 70% of their video consumption on Netflix and YouTube, according to a study from Piper Jaffray that will surprise no parents of teens. The demo devotes 38% of their video time watching Netflix (down 1% from six months ago), and 33% on YouTube (up 3%). Cable TV viewing accounts for 16% of viewing time, down 44% from three years ago.
