American Idol champ and The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson is ready to talk –The Kelly Clarkson Show has been sold by NBCUniversal Domestic TV to the NBC Owned Television Station group for a fall 2019 debut. One hour talker starring Clarkson will air as the lead-in to Ellen (replacing Steve) on NBC-owned stations in New York, LA, Chicago, Philly, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Francisco, D.C., Miami, San Diego, Boston and Harford. The stations can be viewed in nearly 30% of U.S. households.  “We are very excited to have Kelly Clarkson on our air next fall,” said Valari Staab, president, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations. “She’s genuine, warm, fun and interacts with her fans in a meaningful way. Throughout her career people of all ages and backgrounds have related to her openness, honesty and curiosity. She will be the perfect companion to Ellen.”

Maroon 5 will be stars of the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show, reports Billboard – though the NFL refused to confirm. “It’s Super Bowl tradition to speculate about performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show,” said the league. “We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.” We’re guessing if the offer was indeed made, the answer was yes – in 2015, Maroon 5 front man (and The Voice staple) Adam Levine said he and the band “very actively want to play the Super Bowl.” Game day is February 3 on CBS.

CBS’s Murphy Brown revival will premiere with a (slightly) extended episode on Thursday, September 27 at 9:30p written by series creator and exec producer Diane English. S.W.A.T. will air from 10:05p-11:05p, while The Late Show begins at its regular time, 11:35p. In the Murphy premiere, the broadcast news legend returns after a brief retirement for cable news’ “Murphy in the Morning”.
