After cancelling freshman comedy Ghosted, its last remaining show waiting on word of renewal, FOX released premiere dates for its new and returning series. Programming kicks off on Sunday, September 9 with a sneak preview of comedy Rel at 8p, following an NFL doubleheader. Breakout procedural 9-1-1 bows its sophomore season on Sunday, September 23 at 8p, while Tim Allen’s revived Last Man Standing debuts Friday, September 28 at 8p, followed by The Cool Kids at 8:30p.

The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis, airing Sunday, July 29 at 10p, will feature a few faces from the Die Hard star’s past. Showtime is bringing new comedy Black Monday and drama The Chi to 2018 Essence Festival. On Friday, July 6, The Chi creator and EP Lena Waithe headlines a keynote conversation on the Essence Empowerment Experience Stage and appears in the Great Hall to discuss the show. At CAA’s Amplify event on Thursday the agency revealed plans to launch a searchable database of television writers of color to help in the hiring of diverse voices. It will be comprised of over 800 writers that have at least one writing credit on a broadcast, cable or streaming television project in the past five years and includes representation information wherever that writer is represented.

Showtime greenlit a 10-episode season of live-action scripted drama Halo (wt), based on the Xbox franchise from Kyle Killen (Awake), Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Planet of the Apes) and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Halo, which has grown into a global entertainment phenomenon, reinvented how people think about video games. Series begins production in early 2019.

Panic, from Lauren Oliver and based on her best-selling book, centers on a forgotten rural town where every year graduating seniors risk their lives in an illegal, high-stakes game to win life-changing money. The Wilds, from Sarah Streicher (Daredevil) and a co-production with ABC Signature Studios, follows a group of teenage girls from radically different backgrounds who find themselves stranded on a remote island as part of an elaborate social experiment. College, from 6 Balloons filmmaker Marja-Lewis Ryan and producers Channing Tatum and Jill Soloway, takes a look at college campus life through the eyes of six roommates.

A new report from The Information suggests that Apple is contemplating a subscription bundle that packages music streaming, magazine and upcoming VOD subscription services.
