Emmy Update: Colin Jost and Michael Che, Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” anchors and Emmy-nominated co-head writers of the NBC series, will take the stage as hosts of the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards. The telecast will be exec-produced by SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels, and air live coast to coast from LA Live on Monday, September 17 from 8-11p. “NBC is thrilled to be the home of this year’s Emmy Awards and with Colin and Michael in the driver’s seat as hosts, along with surprise appearances by other cast members of Saturday Night Live,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. Emmy noms will be announced Thursday, July 12.

AMC will make the full season of AMC Visionaries: James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction available to AMC Premiere customers when the first ep premieres on the linear network Monday night, April 30. The move follows a similar release strategy for recent series The Terror and McMafia, AMC launched AMC Premiere as an upgrade option for Xfinity TV customers last summer, for an additional $4.99 per month.

AT&T’s courtship of a victory against the Justice Department in its $85 billion bid to acquire Time Warner is yielding improved odds for the company. This according to longtime industry analyst Craig Moffett of MoffettNathanson, who stated in a research note: “By most accounts… the trial has gone very well for AT&T. For the record, we’re still calling it a toss-up, but the general consensus is that we’re being too cautious; most observers seem to give AT&T 75%-or-better odds of winning in Court.”

A jury yesterday found Bill Cosby guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in a Philadelphia suburb in 2004. The 80-year-old actor faces up to 10 years in prison on each of three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and then sexually assaulting Constand.

Showtime continues to count its fortunes. The network picked up a fourth season of hit drama series Billions, starring Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. Production is under way on the second season of Star Trek: Discovery with executive producer and co-creator Alex Kurtzman directing the premiere episode for CBS All Access. Production has begun for Disney Channel on Star Wars Resistance, a new animated adventure series about a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.
