Women in Entertainment is teaming with the Television Academy Foundation for the first Women in Television Summit, slated for May 21. “This is a watershed moment in time. Dating series Love at First Flight sends new couples on a stressful trip across North America – and they must decide when they land whether they want to get married. Um, what? “As producers, we’re always looking to elevate our creative and invent new ways of telling familiar stories,” says Craig Piligian, CEO of Pilgrim Media Group, and exec producer of the series, “With Love at First Flight, we crossed a dating show with a travel show, and brought a new dynamic to the table in the process. The mechanics of the series include specific tasks designed to test compatibility among couples who’ve just met; but they ultimately have to manage a cross-country trip together – something that requires teamwork, honesty and a sense of humor. This is a show we think audiences are going to find surprising and yet very relatable.” Series premieres tonight on Lifetime.

Facebook shares shed nearly $40 billion of market value in trading yesterday. The slide came after reports that consulting company Cambridge Analytica used the data of 50 million Facebook users without their consent. Two Senators, Amy Klobucher (D-Minn.) and John Kennedy (R-La.), asked for a hearing to question Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other execs about their company’s use of personal data; Facebook has hired an auditing firm to find out whether Cambridge still has data it was supposed to destroy in 2015. Phone Swap is back on Snapchat for season 2. In the game, strangers inspect each other’s phones and decide whether to go on a date based on what they find. Cinematographer Michael Gershman was found dead in his home March 10. He was 73. Gershman was best known for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. “The lessons I learned from him are endless,” posted Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar on Instagram of the man she called a surrogate father. “But more than lessons, there was love…I am lucky to have been loved by Michael.”
