Two Grey’s Anatomy cast members will be leaving at the end of the venerable ABC drama’s current 14th season. Jessica Capshaw (Dr. Arizona Robbins) is exiting after 10 seasons, Sarah Drew (Dr. April Kepner) after 9. But don’t blame star Ellen Pompeo’s rich new 2-year deal. “As writers, our job is to follow the stories where they want to go and sometimes that means saying goodbye to characters we love,” said Grey’s showrunner Krista Vernoff. Capshaw said of her character, one of the first series regular LGBTQ characters, “Her impact on the world is forever.” Drew admitted she was still processing the news, tweeting to her fans: “I know you’re sad. USA ordered a spinoff off Suits, centered on the character played by Gina Torres. “The Suits flagship series has struck a chord with our marketing partners throughout the years as a great platform for advertising and sponsorship opportunities,” said Mark Marshall, EVP, entertainment advertising sales, NBCUniversal. “This new Gina Torres-led spinoff allows us to provide those same advertisers and audiences with the content we already know they love to watch.” Spinoff is executive produced and written by Suits creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh alongside exec producer and showrunner Daniel Arkin.
