AT&T’s request that the U.S. Department of Justice release its White House communications regarding AT&T’s pending acquisition of Time Warner was denied by a federal judge. AT&T is contending that politics, including President Trump’s antipathy towards CNN (and by extension its owner, Time Warner), is behind the government’s lawsuit attempt to block the $85 billion merger. Trial is scheduled to begin March 19.
