Six months after leaving NBC’s Today and MSNBC, Tamron Hall is partnering with Weinstein Television for a new daytime talker she will host and exec produce. Former NBC Domestic Television Distribution president Barry Wallach is consulting on the project. “I’ve been working towards developing a talk show for a long time, but needed to make sure I did it the right way and with the right person,” said Harvey Weinstein, TWC co-chairman. “Tamron is far and away that person.”

History is looking into the claim by a Japanese military blogger that a photo used in documentary Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence to prove Earhart survived a crash landing in 1937 and was captured by the Japanese, was in fact taken in 1935. “History has a team of investigators exploring the latest developments…and we will be transparent in our findings,” said the net. “Ultimately, historical accuracy is most important to us and our viewers.”

Television pioneer Richard “Dick” Cox died July 10 after a short illness. He was 87. Cox, whose first job was as an usher at CBS Radio at 16, later worked as a page at NBC, eventually heading up Y&R Ventures at Young & Rubicam and, under his DCA-TV, produced daytime’s first syndicated soap opera, High Hopes. In 1981, Cox was tapped to head CBS Cable, where he received 2 Cable Ace Awards.
