After months of negotiations, Ryan Seacrest confirmed his return as host of American Idol in its new home on ABC. Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host Kelly Ripa broke the news on the daytimer on Thursday; Seacrest will continue to tape Live from NYC. Seacrest, who hosted Idol during its entire Fox run from 2002-2016, will be joined by judge Katy Perry. “To be asked to return this year, at my new home at Disney|ABC, is an honor, if not a bit surreal,” said Seacrest. “I believe ABC is the perfect home for Idol, and I’ve every confidence the show’s legions of fans will love it.”
