Tyra Banks has been named host of season 12 of NBC hit America’s Got Talent. “Tyra is the complete package: Out-of-this-world talented, funny, brilliant and all heart,” said Paul Telegdy, president, alternative and reality group, NBC Entertainment. “In whatever she has done, she has always connected with audiences around the world . Her vivacious spirit will infuse ‘AGT’ in a big way.” Banks created and exec produced America’s Top Model for 23 cycles. She replaces Nick Cannon, who announced in February he was leaving the show after he was allegedly “threatened with termination” due to jokes he told on a Showtime stand-up special.

HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver again bought ad time on Fox News’s Fox & Friends in the D.C. area, with the goal of explaining to F&F fan President Trump how much the GOP’s American Health Care Act will hurt older people in rural areas, among others, who put him in office. “It’s like if the people of Pompei voted for the volcano,” said Oliver.

The eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones will have only 6 episodes (down from 7 in upcoming season 7, launching July 16), shared showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss at SXSW. It was also revealed the pop star Ed Sheeran will guest this season. “We knew that [series star] Maisie [Williams] was a big fan of Ed Sheeran and for years we’ve been trying to get him on the show so we can surprise Maisie,” said Benioff. “This year we finally did it.”

Close to home: HGTV’s Urban Oasis Giveaway will be located in Knoxville, TN, which happens to be the headquarters of the network.
