Two days earlier came word that actress Florence Henderson had passed. She was “a doll and a dame and funny as hell,” tweeted Michael McKean. Henderson, who died of heart failure at age 82, remained active until the end. On Friday, NBC’s 50th anniversary broadcast of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! delivered 5.2 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating, a 21-month non-Olympics high in the time slot for the network.
