Charter Communications is laying off 258 staffers, mainly in financial roles, as it begins the process of combining Charter, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. Layoffs will begin November 1 and be completed by the end of June. Ultimately, Charter plans to add 20,000 jobs by bringing call centers work back from overseas, insourcing other work and “growing to meet our customer demands,” said a Charter spokesman.

NBC goes digital to find new musical talent in The Stream, featuring music industry titans searching for future stars via the Internet and social media. Wannabe talent can upload videos to the show’s online platform; the 100 most streamed musicians will be invited to a showcase, with finalists competing in a weekly live show.
